As a church school we believe that it is important to live our values every day, to be a loving family where everyone is inspired to be the best they can be, to nurture all those who work and learn within our school and to make a positive contribution to the community, the local environment and the world around us.
We encourage the children to take a view of the world around them and how they can develop as young people to help each other and to make a positive contribution in life.
Have a look at some of the things that we have been doing and some of the things that you can join us in doing…
The children loved learning about the world around them, about habitats for animals and how we can take care of our world.
It was a special day in school today. All the children took part in RE day. The children worked with children from other classes and were taught by different teachers during the day. They learnt about the Christmas story, what they can learn from it, and how to make connections with what’s relevant for them in today’s world. Some visited the Wise men’s tent, some became bloggers and vloggers and some wrote prayers for the world today, and thought about what their hopes were for our world. They thought about big questions such as “Does God value all people?” and “What is true wisdom?” Have a look at what went on. Thank you to all the teachers and children for working so hard (especially Mrs Wood!).
The children had a lovely time with family members, learning together. We hugely appreciate your fantastic support and many positive comments.
Thank you for the fantastic support yet again. We had a wonderful day celebrating with all the local churches within Leek and the Moorlands. Thank you for joining us in church and for all those who came with us to the open air service in the town square.
Our whole school (parents, children, governors, staff, the church and our friends in the wider community) came together to help us revisit our school values, and what it means for use to be a church school. It was lovely to see everyone’s ideas come together and shape our school. The children and staff worked hard to visualise our values, and link them with stories from the Bible to illustrate their meaning. Have a look at the outcome!
We always take part in the local community’s Remembrance Sunday service. Have a look at our school council representing our school.
Our school is getting involved with ‘Love Leek’ to help to shape Leek town for future generations. Watch out on our Facebook page in 2020 to get involved.
Our school takes part in Leek’s Fairtrade Fortnight every year. The children think about how their actions impact on the wider world and the people within it.
We have joined a battery recycling scheme run by the National Schools Partnership and Duracell called the ‘Big Battery Hunt’. The scheme has been launched to raise awareness about the problems caused to the environment by throwing batteries away and to encourage pupils to recycle their waste. The children and parents have been very enthusiastic to take part and we have already collected nearly 4000 batteries. In fact, our recycling bin has overflowed!
We take part in Operation Christmas Child every year, and so does our whole community. Parents and friends help staff and children to make a small difference to the lives of others.
Every class in the school has contributed to our whole school display. All the children made our ‘Tree of Life’. The tree had thoughts on how the children think our world should be. Some classes made promises about what they can do to look after their world. Some classes wrote poems about the qualities the world should have. Some classes wrote about how they would want the world to be.
Each year the whole community comes together for our Christingle Service. Children, parents, staff and the wider community come together for this special event.
You can find a lot, lot more about our activities on our facebook page.
